About Clare

My name is Clare and I manage Barclays branch at Addenbrookes site.  I was told about 6 years ago to stop running after a knee operation, however one of my closest friends decided that for her 50th birthday she would like to take part in the 2019 Great North Run, and convinced me to start running again.  Unfortunately, she was too ill to take part, which was another reason for me to run, and I ended up raising over £2000 for a breast cancer charity!

How is your training going?

I have run a few half marathons and the London Marathon before.  Since the second lockdown, I have joined a group the Isleham Joggers group, and have gone from putting off going out jogging to going out 3 or 4 times a week. Currently longest run is 10 and a half miles!

What made you run for Papworth Trust?

Myself and another colleague did a football scratch card fundraiser for Papworth Trust when we came to visit one of the sites, and I said back then that I would join in another event in the future, and when I saw Papworth Trust looking for runners for  the Cambridge Half Marathon I thought that’s the one for me!
