Can I claim Attendance Allowance?
Attendance Allowance isn’t means tested, so your income and savings aren’t taken into account. You don’t need to be receiving help from a carer, because it is based on the help you need.
How much is attendance allowance?
You'll receive a weekly amount depending on the type of care you need. If you need support a lot of the time (day and night), you'll be given £55.10. If you need support all of the time, you can claim £88.30.
This benefit doesn't reduce your other benefits and you might also become entitled to other benefits such as Pension Credit and Housing Benefit. If you are under 65, you may be able to get Personal Independence Payments instead.
The benefit does not need to be spent on care, it can help you stay independent in your own home.
