Papworth Trust has today announced that Chief Executive Vicky McDermott will be stepping down from her role in August.
The outgoing Chief Executive will also stand down as the Chair of the Care and Support Alliance.
Ms McDermott recently celebrated three years in charge of the leading disability charity but is leaving her role in Cambridgeshire to become the Chief Executive of the General Optical Council in London.
She explained: “Over the last three years, Papworth Trust has worked hard to transform from a service delivery organisation to one focused on creating significant social change that leads to real and meaningful difference to the lives of disabled people.
“I am proud to have worked alongside some fantastic people to ensure the Trust is now rightly regarded as a leading provider of housing, work and care for disabled people.
"Papworth Trust is also seen a growing influencer in Westminster, helping to drive through significant policy reform to change the lives of the UK’s 13 million disabled people.”
Board Chair Rob Hammond wished Vicky McDermott the best for the future and thanked her for her enormous contributions in transforming Papworth Trust.
Mr Hammond said: “We will miss very much Vicky McDermott's energetic and innovative leadership of the Trust.
“She has made a very real difference to the way in which our services are run and to the influence we have exerted on behalf of disabled people, both regionally and nationally. She has steered the Trust well in a challenging climate. We wish her well in her future career."
