First Steps to Success offers tailored one-to-one support to unemployed adults with Autism and mild to moderate Learning Disabilities, aged 18 or over and living in the Ipswich and surrounding area, including training, apprenticeships, work placements, volunteering and employment opportunities. 

In one-to-one sessions that are designed to build your confidence and increase self-esteem, an Employment Adviser will support you with all aspects of employment skills - from creating a CV to providing continued in-work support.

What we do?

  • Coach you on interview skills and techniques
  • Work closely with employers and provide ongoing support
  • Network with local organisations to increase learning and signposting opportunities


  • Has a mild to moderate Learning Disability or Autism
  • Aged 18 years and over
  • Unemployed
  • Living in Ipswich and the surrounding area. 

How to make a referral

  • We will also accept self-referrals from individuals that meet the criteria
  • If you would like someone to attend the initial appointment with you, we will happily accommodate that.
  • First Steps to Success is a free service and you do not have to be accessing benefits to apply.

Working closely with local organisations

We are always seeking local organisations who would like to work alongside us by way of:

  • Promoting your organisation by way of referrals, networking and signposting individuals to your services.
  • Offering training courses, apprenticeships and education.
  • Providing work trials, volunteering opportunities and employment in a supportive setting.
