After facing significant personal challenges, Emma made the decision to move to Papworth Trust s supported living at Links Court in Lowestoft.
Before coming to Papworth Trust, her life was unsettled
Papworth Trust stepped in to provide stability and support. Beyond just a place to live, the staff offer practical help and encouragement in daily activities. "They got me a house and paid my rent" Emma explained. Life at Papworth Trust became more fulfilling through activities and newfound independence.
"I enjoyed Papworth, doing the garden, growing vegetables" she said.Staff also support Emma in developing essential life skills. They help me cook. I cook cauliflower cheese, the sauce, all on my own. I didn't think I could do it! Emma even has a cat named Garfield that she calls her baby . Papworth Trust supported her to get the cat when she first moved to Links Court. When feelings of anxiety or sadness arise, especially when thinking about her father, who passed away, the staff are always there to help.
On how staff helped her, Emma described that they "Calm me down and talk to people, emphasising the importance of emotional support in her journey.Papworth Trust also helps Emma enjoy new experiences. The Trust are helping her to go on holiday and this will be her second trip with staff. I'm very excited, I've got a new swimming costume, she said. Emma is looking forward to swimming and visiting the clubhouse every night.
With Papworth Trust's support, Emma now enjoys a safe home, greater independence and meaningful experiences.
"I'm happy" she said.
