Papworth Trust's Basildon Centre provides person-centred support for adults who live with physical and/or learning disabilities.
Based in Bradbury House, Witchards, we offer a range of leisure and learning activities and a choice of activities for disabled people to learn new skills and do work experience.
Our activities range from:
- Arts and crafts
- Numeracy and literacy skills
- Information sessions
- Time and travel training
- Trips out and social activities
- Money management and budgeting skills
- Work and/or volunteer placements
We make woodwork items on our premises and take orders for garden planters, bird tables, wooden stakes, plaques and furniture all at very reasonable prices. All proceeds go back into our centre.
We also grow plants and fruit and vegetables that we sell or use in creating jams, pickles, chutneys and for our cooking lessons. Hanging baskets and plants are created from spring onwards to sell to the public.
We have wheelchair access inside and outside the building and have a beautiful sensory garden and wildlife pond, supported by our generous local community. We offer a friendly atmosphere with experienced staff and volunteers.
