About the Project

OWL Bikes is a Papworth Trust social enterprise based at the Cambridge Opportunities Without Limits day service. OWL Bikes provides a variety of services from bike maintenance, repairs and sales to supporting adults to become employment ready.

Here at OWL Bikes we have realised that accessing bike maintenance and repairs is not always easy.  In order to help our local communities to overcome this barrier we are taking our OWL Bikes Pop-up Shops to them.  A recent grant has meant that we have started the Pop-up Shops in four local communities in South Cambridgeshire but we want to do more.

The Pop-Up Shops not only provide the practical bike maintenance and repairs assistance for those communities wanting to use their bicycles as a preferred environmentally friendly transport option. However, it also provides practical experience for those individuals with learning disabilities accessing the OWL Bikes Employment Project.

The Difference

The OWL Bike Pop-up Shops will make a difference to local communities and individuals.  We will see:
  • More bicycles maintained and repaired
  • More communities using their bicycles as a preferred mode of transport
  • Increased health and wellbeing

The Cost

The OWL Bikes Pop-up Shop costs £17,195 to reach four local communities
