Laura Maslanka will be supporting the work of Papworth Trust all the way from Chicago, USA, after she connected with the charity via a family member who told her about their work.

Laura, 39, is a running coach, personal trainer and fitness instructor and has been running since 2007 when she completed the Chicago Marathon.

“A family member who lives in the UK reached out to me and recommended the charity Papworth Trust and after reading about the help that they offer I am inspired to help them help others.

“One of the activities they offer is gym time.

I am an instructor, running coach and trainer in the fitness industry and I am certified to work with older adults and I teach a fitness class for seniors each week for physical and mental wellness.”

Laura is a coach with a road racing team and will be training with them in the run up to the marathon along with cycling, strength training and cold weather runs along the Chicago lakefront.

The London Marathon will also be a personal milestone for Laura as it is her goal to complete all six of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and to become a Six Star Champion.

“London is my last race in the series and at the finish line I will be receiving my Six Star Medal.

“After I complete this journey my next goal is to run a race with a disabled runner to help them achieve their running goals and to give back to the running community that has given so much to me.”

To date she has run 27 marathons and will be running her 28th marathon, the Chicago Marathon this October.

Her 29th race will be the Little Rock Marathon in Arkansas in March and the London Marathon will be her 30th marathon.

Laura has visited London before as her boyfriend, Michael is English and he’ll be cheering her on along with family and friends as she aims for a time of around 3 hours and 30 minutes.

She added: “My dad passed away in April and his funeral was on the same day as the Boston Marathon this past year.

“It will be a year since his death when I run the London Marathon and I know he will be proud of me for accomplishing what I have set out to do.”

And as if that isn’t enough, Laura also finds time to dress up as Wonder Woman along with friends as members of the Justice League to complete the Cleveland half marathon each year.
