A visit to Papworth Trust’s Basildon Centre inspired one runner to bid for a place in next year’s London Marathon to raise money.

Luke Burton from East Tilbury ran for Papworth Trust in 2017 and was presented with his finisher’s medal by HRH Prince Harry, now the Duke of Sussex.

Twenty-one-year-old Luke, a conveyancing assistant with PCS Legal, completed the 2017 London Marathon in four hours, 6 minutes and 17 seconds and is hoping to come in under four hours in April next year.

“Training is going really well,” said Luke, who raised a fantastic £2,600 for Papworth Trust two years ago.

“I’m running twice during the week and doing a long run at the weekend.”

Cheering him on in the capital will be his parents Michelle and Martin, girlfriend Annie and her family and his sister Sophie and her boyfriend, Joe.

Luke also spent some time at Papworth Trust’s Basildon Centre to see first-hand where the money he raised was supported local disabled people.
