The Chief Executive of Papworth Trust is to take on a virtual marathon challenge to raise funds for the charity – and she wants you to join her!

Following the news of the postponement of the London Marathon, which plays a vital part of the charity’s yearly fundraising plans, Sarah Miller decided that she was going to take on the challenge of completing the marathon distance (26.2 miles) on her treadmill over the course of a week in April, starting at 10:58, her start time when she took part in the race in 2019, on the day the London Marathon was due to take place this year.

On launching the challenge, Sarah said: “Papworth Trust has seen its fundraising plans devastated due to the coronavirus outbreak and that is why I am launching our Marathon challenge. All charities rely on the kindness and generosity of supporters and I am hoping that as many people as possible sponsor me and take on the challenge too, whilst following government guidelines on social distancing.”

“I intend to run 4 miles a day, plotting my course, starting on 26th April and finishing the following Saturday having completed the 26.2 miles. It may sound tempered and not a huge challenge. However I haven’t run since last April, so it is going to be a huge shock to my system!”
