The Cambridge Institute of Directors has chosen Papworth Trust as its charity of the year.

Their main fundraising event will be the annual dinner of the IOD at St John’s College's splendid 16th century dining hall on Thursday 21 September.

And they have just announced that the guest speaker for the evening will be Martin Bell OBE.

Mr Bell is an UNICEF Ambassador, former broadcast war reporter and former independent politician who became MP for Tatton.

Jo Revitt, corporate partnership fundraiser at Papworth Trust, said the charity was thrilled to be partnering with the Cambridge Institute of Directors - which comes as Papworth Trust celebrates 100 years of supporting disabled people.

Jo added: "The Cambridge IOD annual dinner - and the chance to hear Martin Bell OBE talk about his incredible life - is one not to be missed.

"It will be held in such beautiful surroundings while also supporting the work we do with disabled people and their families in Cambridgeshire. It is a perfect way to celebrate our big anniversary."

Tickets start from £75 and can be bought via Sharon Scotcher, branch administrator of the IOD, on admin.cambridgeshire@iod.net.
