Elizabeth’s story

Elizabeth became a participant on the Community Connections Essex project after hearing about it on a visit to Signpost.

After living with learning disabilities and being diagnosed with dyspraxia, and the following support from Signpost, Elizabeth decided she wanted to progress further by seeking suitable employment.

After meeting with her Employment Advisor Barbara, Elizabeth was supported with producing an updated CV, learning interview and communication skills, and seeking training opportunities.

Elizabeth said: “The training I have received has been really good and it has increased by confidence and self-esteem.  I always feel like I can ask for help if I need it.  However, I am also challenged to try new things and step out of my comfort zone whenever I can!”

We are pleased that Elizabeth has taken such great strides to overcoming her barriers, and is even considering taking on Functional Skills qualifications to improve her employability.  “This is something that I would never have considered before joining the project!”

Community Connections South and Community Connections Essex are funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund.
