Papworth Trust has busy recently with lots of coronation events taking place and more to come this week.

We kicked off a fortnight of celebrations on Wednesday 26 April. It began with the planting of a special tree, a monarch birch, in the village of Papworth Everard in front of Papworth Hall. The Varrier-Jones Foundation joined Trustees and staff as our Chair, Brian Stewart, said a few words before officially planting it.

Customers at our Opportunities Without Limits centre in Basildon celebrated on Wednesday 3 May by throwing a party. It was a wonderful afternoon which included a quiz, a game of Boccia and lots of delicious cakes. The party began with everyone singing the national anthem and ended with staff and customers dancing along to their favourite music. It was a brilliant afternoon and a great way to kick off the celebrations!

On Thursday 4 May customers from Opportunities Without Limits in Ipswich celebrated. Celebrations at the centre started with refreshments. After a buffet of food, customers enjoyed music and dancing. Our Volunteer Receptionist, Harriet, held a thank you speech to all attendees which was followed by a round of applause. Harriet then read aloud a letter the Trust received from its Patron, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester. The afternoon ended with a raffle and refreshments of cream scones and cakes. Customers had a great time.

Staff attended the Papworth Everard family fun day on Sunday 7 May. Paul Sands, our Volunteer Manager said “It was a fantastic event with great weather. Afterwards, Cliff led a lively bingo session. On the first game, Daniel won the first line but was pipped to the post for a full house which was won by James. More games followed and enjoyed by all.
