Papworth Trust has today begun working with the Shaw Trust to deliver the Work and Health Programme (WHP) in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

The Shaw Trust was successful in bidding for the programme across the Home Counties and Papworth Trust has signed a five-year contract to partner them, with the offer of a two-year extension.

It will see us work with between 450-550 referrals a year with the programme predominantly aimed at supporting disabled people.

A small number of early access groups and those who have been unemployed for two years or more could also be supported under the programme.

Referrals will come via Jobcentre Plus and we will provide a tailored personalised programme to each individual. We can work with customers for up to 15 months.

We will also be working with other partners offering a holistic approach to supporting the customers to address any issues that might be preventing an individual from returning or entering work.

The programme will also be looking at volunteering and work experience opportunities to help individuals ultimately secure employment.

Work remains a very important part of the Trust's priorities as supporting people back into employment can have a significant impact on their lives.
