How Signpost Tendring supported a participant back into employment

How did you feel about your situation prior to the programme?

I felt unable to move my life in a positive direction. I’d been struggling in many aspects: financially, mental health deteriorated, self-esteem. I had lost confidence and years of being a carer to my son with severe mental health issues had left me suffering with depression and anxiety.

What were your feelings about work before the programme?

Lack of confidence. Felt lost!

What barriers have you faced to work?

Struggled to produce a CV, lack of IT equipment at home.

Have you tried any other employment programmes?

No

How did you find out about the Community Connections Essex programme?

Came across an ad on Twitter, it felt like a lifeline.
Did you find the programme helpful?

Yes, extremely.

How would you describe the difference the programme has made?

Massive positive impact. It’s been completely positive, I am so grateful.

What new skills have you developed – both personally and to help your employment?

I have been volunteering in a hope to rebuild confidence.

What are your circumstances now? Are you in work, self-employed, or looking for work?

I have been offered a job, I’m due to start work next month.

How do you feel about your life now?

Optimistic. Hopeful that things can change for the better.
