To coincide with World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2020, we spoke to our Community Connections Essex partners about how our joined-up approach is supporting local people on the path to employment and volunteering opportunities.

“I would recommend others to join the programme as I am moving forward now”

A customer at Papworth Trust has paid tribute to the support she has received from the Community Connections Essex team.
Admitting they went through “low times”, the customer was supported back into employment and described her new job as “great”.
She explained: “I passed my driving assessment on the minibus and I feel lucky to have such a nice job. The staff and passengers are all very friendly and I could not wish for a better manager. I feel a lot better in myself.
"The staff here have a great sense of humour and my laughs are back.”

A stay-at-home mum admitted they were suffering from depression and anxiety before signing up to Realise Futures in a bid to improve their education and employment opportunities.
She said: “I didn’t have the support network to engage in education and being a young single mum, I didn’t have the support to find a way out.
“The programme helped me apply for a childcare course, and childcare for my little girl, and we sourced funding and looked at my benefits and housing as well. This was all a relief. My adviser was a great support and always available when I needed her.
“I would recommend others join the programme as I feel I am moving forward now.”

Recently diagnosed with Asperger’s, a Signpost customer explained how the project made a difference to them.
They said: “I am starting to feel more confident and I am also feeling more positive towards employment.”
