A number of changes affected our Gender Pay Gap in April 2020 (published October 21).  This included significant changes in the snapshot month to our method of paying our care staff,  moving them to monthly pay.  This has meant that in the snapshot period we are reporting on payments in April but also timesheet payments from March which are paid at the previous lower NLW rate.

In addition, we have had a greater proportion of female staff contributing to our salary sacrifice pensions.  As the calculations have to be made on gross pension deductions for salary sacrifice this has increased the gender pay gap, particularly in the lower quartile.

Although we had no legal obligation to report our April 2020 Gender Pay gap we have done so and continue to recognise that it is important to continue to monitor our gender pay gap and actively address any issues strategically within our People Plan.  We will continue to take active steps to monitor and reduce any gaps and will continue to operate impartial pay review and job evaluation mechanisms.

Papworth Trust’s HR Director Sarah Harvey, agrees that this report is correct.
