What has inspired you to run the London Marathon in aid of Papworth Trust?

Since I got to know the Papworth Trust last year it has been a humbling experience to see the great work they do for disabled and disadvantaged people. Having attended the recent ‘Magical Supper Club’ event you couldn’t help but notice the joy it gave to those taking part and seeing their proud families watching them having fun and socialising with others was wonderful.

Have you completed a marathon before?

Ha ha no. This is my first one. I may have had my arm twisted a little to put my name in the hat but what a great opportunity to run the iconic London Marathon and raise money for the Papworth Trust at the same time. Actually this is my first running event of any kind. I decided to skip the couch to 5km challenge and go straight for the couch to 42km one instead!

How is your training going so far, what time do you hope to achieve on the day?

Not too bad. I’m starting from a low base so most weeks I’m running PBs as I increase the distance I run. I ran 10 miles recently which was the furthest I’ve been. I downloaded a 6 month training plan for marathon beginners which I find helps me keep disciplined to going out for runs. In terms of time on the day I really am taking a guess. I’d like to go under 6 hours but I’m planning to push myself as much as I can.
