Purple Horizons is a volunteer group which organises events to raise money for Papworth Trust.
We provide a variety of informative, educational, fun events throughout the year, from art to politics and sport to literature, wine tasting to Christmas lunches. Each event is unique with a different guest speaker and vary from weekday lunches to evening talks.

Previous events have included talks with an Ambassador about adventures in diplomacy, how a hobby created an award-winning gin, an author’s journey from vet school to a best-selling novel, a one man theatre show on China and themed lunches such as our annual Festive Feast.

Most of our events are between £10.00 and £25.00. Locations vary but within easy reach of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.

Papworth Trust is a disability charity and registered provider of social housing, whose aim is for disabled people to have equality, choice and independence. Papworth Trust provides a range of services including housing, work, care and leisure opportunities across Cambridgeshire, Essex and Suffolk.

Purple Horizons are currently raising funds for the Papworth Trust’s Routeway To Work project which provides an opportunity for individuals, aged 16+, with mild to moderate learning disabilities, autism and/or neurodiversity to develop employment skills and gain practical experience within OWL Bikes, our commercial bicycle shop and workshop.

"Thank you for supporting the events organised by Papworth Trust’s volunteer fundraising group, Purple Horizons. I am sure that, like me, you believe that disabled people should have the same opportunities and access in life as everyone else; to be able to make decisions and choices about how and where they live, what they do and who they do it with. Supporting these events is a very impactful way of helping us to achieve our vision for a world where disabled people are seen for who they are.”

Sarah Miller, CEO, Papworth Trust

  • Purple Horizons Christmas Wreath Workshop

Join Purple Horizons on Wednesday 29 November, for a delightful event hosted at The New Sun Inn in Kimbolton.

Kickstart your morning with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sweetness of mince pies. Following this, our team of three talented florists will demonstrate their craft, offering you a glimpse into the art of floral arrangements.

After the demonstration, you'll have the opportunity to unleash your creativity by crafting your very own wreath for the upcoming festive season. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and an apron, and they'll provide the rest - a beautiful array of foliage, ribbons, dried fruit, and holly to fuel your creativity.

Once your wreath is complete, savor a scrumptious 2-course lunch expertly prepared by our talented resident chef at The New Sun Inn.

Tickets for this exclusive wreath-making workshop and delectable lunch experience are priced at £50.00.
